We are a nonprofit community development financial institution that serves the financial needs of our members. Membership in our credit union is open to anyone who lives, works, worships, or attends school in the county or counties of our service area. As a division of Self-Help Credit Union, we also promote the mission of Self-Help Credit Union, which is to create and protect ownership and economic opportunity for all, especially people of color, women, rural residents and low-wealth families and communities.

ABOUT CAPE FEAR CREDIT UNION

Cape Fear Credit Union operates as a division of Self-Help Credit Union, and serves 3,000 members through its Wilmington, North Carolina branch. Membership in Cape Fear Credit Union is open to anyone who lives, works, worships, or attends school in New Hanover and Brunswick counties. Cape Fear Credit Union merged with Self-Help Credit Union on July 1, 2006, and was first chartered in 1979.

Self-Help

Founded in 1980, Self-Help is a North Carolina-based nonprofit organization. The mission of Self-Help is to create and protect ownership and economic opportunity through four key community development pursuits including the management and operation of full service credit union branches, community development lending that focuses on providing mortgage and small business loans, affordable housing development and downtown revitalization projects, and critical research to advance fair and responsible lending practices.
