Cape Fear Credit Union Membership
Membership Eligibility
Membership in the credit union is open to anyone who lives, works, worships, or attends school in the county, or counties, of operation, and their immediate family members regardless of where the family member lives.
Membership is also open to businesses in the county,
and Select Employee Groups (SEGs) of the credit union.
Membership is also open to anyone who is, or becomes, a member of the Center for Community Self-Help. As a member of Cape Fear Credit Union, you have access to all of the products and services offered by the credit union.
Membership Deposit- Member "Share"
A $5 minimum deposit is required to establish membership in Cape Fear Credit Union. Your credit union membership deposit gives you access to all of the products and services offered by the credit union and your "share" makes you a member/owner with the right to vote at the annual meeting of Self-Help Credit Union.
Center for Community Self-Help Membership
To become a member of the Center for Community Self-Help you must pay a $20 a membership fee to the Center for Community Self-Help. You also must pay $5 for your membership in the local credit union.
The Center for Community Self-Help is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation dedicated to creating and protecting ownership and economic opportunity for people of color, women, rural residents, and low-wealth families and communities. Self-Help Credit Union is affiliated with the Center for Community Self-Help. Cape Fear Credit Union is a division of Self-Help Credit Union.

Cape Fear Credit Union is in partnership with a number of employers throughout our service area to provide our full range of financial products and services to their employees. These Select Employee Groups (SEGs) and their employees are valuable assets to the membership and purpose of Cape Fear Credit Union.
